“Large” injection mold design for car left rear door panel

Car door panel is an important part of car interior parts. It is located on the inside of car door. It is divided into front, rear, left and right. It varies according to car series, usually two-door and four-door. These parts are collectively called door panel series. This article takes left rear door panel of a car as an example to explain key points and experience in designing injection molds for car door panels.

Automobile injection molds generally have domestic molds and export molds. Generally, domestic molds have lower requirements and lower prices, export molds have high requirements and high prices. Therefore, requirements for mold design and manufacturing are very high. Compared with domestic molds, export molds are mainly more demanding, more complicated, and detailed design requirements are high. Whether it is appearance and strength of mold, or standard parts, hot runner, steel of mold is much stricter than domestic mold. This article will take some complex typical cases of exported automobile injection molds to discuss key points of European and American automobile injection mold design.

Design of Cooling Channel for Automobile Injection Mould

In design practice, different customers have different requirements for cooling system design. Designer first considers customer's requirements, then combines mold size, structure and actual situation to comprehensively design. Automotive injection mold cooling systems usually have three types: vertical cooling water channels, inclined cooling water channels and well-spaced cooling water channels. Vertical cooling channel means that cooling channel is perpendicular to one of outer surfaces of mold; inclined cooling channel is not perpendicular to any outer surface of mold; diameter of water well in split cooling channel is significantly larger than diameter of other water pipes, and a diaphragm is added in the middle to divide flow.
